For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee,

saying thou shalt open thine hand unto thy brother,

to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land. (Deuteronomy 15:11)

Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.

Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked. (Psalm 82: 3,4)

Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee.  (Deuteronomy 16:17)

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16)
